However, as soon as I learned about 23 and Me many years ago, I had myself tested, since it was the first database to also offer health information. The database has grown so much over the years, and there is currently no better resource available for anybody who wants to try to trace their ancestry AND learn about potential health concerns. .

it’s very easy to submit your sample, just add your saliva into the tube and mail it away in the postage-paid packaging. I got my results within the promised time period and it was interesting to see both my lineage and genetics information. You control how much you want to see and how much you want to share with others. If you are open to looking for common lineage it’s good for that purpose. If you are a bit more private, it’s still a valuable tool for personal info. that you don’t have to share with anyone else.

My family has had 23andMe+ for a couple years now, but now we were able to add my son with this kit. It was nice seeing how many of my genetic traits he picked up that we weren’t aware of. My family doesn’t have a lot of ancestry available, but my wife’s side does.

This was so easy to do, spit in tube and send it away with the postage-paid package. It took about three weeks total to get my results. The charts are interesting and fun to explore, and I can see cousins when I look at the family info. There were no surprises in my results, I’m the mix I thought I was…this was a way to narrow it down a little further. Very interesting and fun. The medical info is interesting too. Tells me what I “might” be predisposed to. I recommend doing the test.

I got this for an in-law living with me, as they were adopted and don’t know anything about their birth parents or their health. It will be really nice to find out about any health issues, but also to find any family members who may be nearby and open to learn about each other, and possibly meet one day.

Knowing information about our genetics is invaluable, I’ve learned a few things that I wasn’t aware of that I will now discuss with my doctor and finding out that my family and I are from an area of the world we didn’t originally think we were from is interesting.
